Figure 12.1 shows the proposed architecture of the complete irrigation and garden nurturing system. Raspberry Pi is the main controller that collects data from all sensors to the cloud database. The soil moisture sensor is used to sense the water content in the soil, which is placed in the soil. The level sensor is placed nearer to the root of the crops which computes the range of the water level, and if the level of water is low then the motor is switched on. pH sensor is also placed, which is to measure the salt content in the water. It is used to reduce fertilizer usage.
The temperature sensor (Jennifer et al. 2017) is used to check the weather conditions. IR sensor is included to monitor the entry of cows, goats, birds, ducks, etc. The electrochemical sensor is used to monitor the nutrient level in the soil the plant requires. If the nutrient content is below the expectation, then fertilizers are provided. The complete data are transmitted which the sensor senses. Then the data are collected by Raspberry Pi and transmitted to the mobile phone. The plants and crops are monitored for infection through any foreign organism, the image is captured, mailed or sent to the farmers or gardeners on their mobile phones.
