Premaratne proposed paddy field algorithm in 2009. It functions on principle of reproduction depending on closeness to the population density and global solution. It is analogous to population of plants. It uses pollination and dispersal strategy. Paddy field algorithm comprises five basic steps called sowing, selection, seeding, pollination and dispersion. This algorithm starts by scattering seeds randomly in an irregular field (sowing). Next selects best solutions and dig over worst solutions (selection). During seeding, the seeds drop into proffered places and best plants (taller) continue to grow and produce huge number of seeds. For seed propagation, animals or wind pollination is used. When carried by the wind, the probability of pollination for pollen is increased due to high population density. Every plant’s seeds are distributed to avoid the pollen from getting stuck at local minima.
