The IoT has potential in majority of fields. The advancement in technology and availability of agriculture sensors connected through different wireless protocols open the doors for farmers and consumers to improve the production. However, there are some security and privacy challenges to be handled properly. In contrast to conventional farming, IoT-​based smart farming provides accurate and feasible features in crop production, waste management and cost-​effective solutions. All over the world the scientists and researchers are doing research on services that can be provided through IoT technology. The governments of different countries are funding IoT-​based research centers to replace conventional farming with smart farming.
