Computing and communication have been revolutionized with the invention of Internet of Things (IoT). This term was coined by Kevin Ashton from Proctor & Gamble Consumer Company in the year 1999. Initially it was confined to manufacturing and business only, and also known as machine to machine (M2M). It uses the internet and connects with unique features through several devices. By 2025, 41.6 billion devices might get connected with IoT. These incorporated devices could be electricity meters, Bluetooth headsets, sensors, water system pumps, control circuits, etc. However, the list is not just confined to these devices only, but it covers vast applications. The raw data are collected from devices such as sensors and gadgets. The information gathered is handled, ordered and contextualized to the application level through brilliant execution mechanism.
In the early days, radio-frequency identification (RFID) was an essential part of IoT.
