Due to the new state of shrinking water levels, rivers and tanks are drying up and there is an urgent requirement of proper utilization of water. Crops can be supervised by placing proper sensors at right locations. The critical investigation survey in the area of agricultural shows that the income from agriculture is decreasing day by day. The implementation of technology in the area of agriculture plays a dynamic role in increasing the production and reducing the man power [1]. Current scenario in agriculture as well as in civilization demands the production of food in better way for the universal population. To improve the net production various new technologies are being used in agricultural field which provide an optimal solution for collecting and processing information [2]. World economy is increasing due to the qualified human capital and improvements in science and technology. Due to this increasing development in smart farming methods, farmers can remotely monitor the crops using sensors. IoT is a network of interconnected devices which transfer data effectively without participation of humans. Nowadays farming sector uses IoT devices and smart phones [3].
The new sensors-based computer applications allow to obtain the correct information regarding the soil, crop and climate in contrast with the old methods. Such methods are used to improve the quality products, practices and also the raw materials used in the process. Hence smart agriculture application of IoT is more competent as compared with old-style methods as shown in Figure 7.1. It helps to reduce fertilizers, wastage of water and improves the crop harvest. It involves modern information and communication technologies application for clean and ecological growth of food for the masses. Thus, IoT is remodeling the agroindustry by providing the agriculturists with broad range of strategies.
India is a developing country and the GDP growth contributed by the service sector is 57.9%, industrial sector contributes 24.2% and agriculture sector contributes 17.9%. Precision farming deals with data collection, application and data interpretation. It is the best farming approach among various farming methodologies. The entire process of precision agriculture is governed by the GPS technology, electronics and network transmission. But if there occurs any climatic or natural disaster, this farming system will become a complex system.
