The internet of things (IoT) has plentiful applications in different fields. The initiative of IoT has shown a novel track of advanced research in agricultural dominion which is capable of offering many solutions toward the modernization of agriculture. Data are captured by mobile devices and sensors; for broadcasting data radio frequency (RF) technologies are used. To be persistent and functional in an effective way, sensor networks use verification and optimization methods. The processes and predictive analytics can be automated using big data approaches and increase many activities in the real time. This chapter covers the IoT technologies used for developing systems that support different agricultural processes, its applications for agriculture, challenges that IoT faces and future scope for upgradations of IoT in agriculture segment.
